First of all I researched the layout for a photo editorial/article finding out that a lot use a double page spread, focusing on one main image. I decided I wanted to follow conventions and do this with mine, however I also wanted to do what some but not many had done and include a small number of subsidiary images. I decided that my design for my editorial should be clean and clinical, to reflect, in a metaphorical sense that of a tattoo studio. I chose the colours black and white to make the colours in the images of the tattoos stand out more. I wanted my title to link into the theme and so chose "Under Your Skin", in addition using a font similar to those usually picked for use in a tattoo and an icon of a tattoo gun making it look as though the title itself was a tattoo. I selected and removed the background of the main image to allow it to blend in with the page of the article and layered some Lorum Ipsum text on top of it, to give me an idea of how text would look where I wanted it; I decided to have it lightly on top of the main image, but not obscuring it as this again was a convention of photo editorials. For the subsidiary images, I chose to place them in a straight line and put a black border around them almost like photos hanging in a frame. All I have left to do now is to substitute the Lorum Ipsum text for my actual article text, although I am yet undecided on whether or not to place a caption describing each subsidiary image.
